Albright warns of Iraq disaster

Aljazeera.Net - Albright warns of Iraq disaster: "Albright warns of Iraq disaster

Sunday 23 April 2006, 22:29 Makka Time, 19:29 GMT

Madeleine Albright, the former US secretary of state, has warned that the invasion of Iraq may end up as one of the worst disasters in American foreign policy.

In an interview with The New York Times published on Sunday, Albright said she did not think Saddam Hussein had been an imminent threat to the United States.

'You can't go to war with everybody you dislike,' she said.

'I think Iraq may end up being one of the worst disasters in American foreign policy.'

Asked what she would consider the greatest mistake of the Bush administration, she said what troubles her is that democracy is getting a bad name 'because it is identified with imposition and occupation'.

She said much of what she had worked for during her tenure under Bill Clinton's presidency, has unraveled.

'I'm for democracy, but imposing democracy is an oxymoron. People have to choose democracy and it has to come up from below,' she said."

Hi truth teller,

I'm hope you're not planning to post bs like that from Madeleine Albright without holding her accountable!

how dare she say this might be "one of the worst disasters in American foreign policy,"(which is probably true) without also apologizing for what she said about Iraq almost 10 years ago!

For those of you who don't remember, Madeleine Albright was asked whether it was worth the deaths of 300,000 Iraqi children not for the certainty, but for the possibility of containing Saddam.

Her answer?

"Such decisions are never easy, but yes, I think it is worth the price."

Let's keep in mind that is "much of what she had worked for during her tenure under Bill Clinton's presidency."

Please check out Alive in Baghdad, where I continue to write about the ongoing situation in Iraq. I'm heading back to Amman soon, and then possibly back to Iraq. I would love to talk to you more about a project I'm coordinating, to get video cameras and other media equipment to Iraqis!

send me an email over at www.aliveinbaghdad.org !

It's a shame that companies like Halliburton are cheating Iraqis. They also cheat the American taxpayers - billions of dollars. But mostly they cheat God, who looks out for those who are in need, so God will punish them.

Things sound terrible over there. What I wonder is if most Iraqis wish Sadaam was still in power or if US got rid of Sadaam but had a better plan to help Iraq. I don't know how to help other than pray or donate to charities like the one that helped the little boy who needed an operation.

Eh... what would that be, again? North Korea got nuclear weapons and... what else happened on her watch? Anything good? Anywhere? Can anybody name something good she accomplished?

Truth teller, do YOU still believe in democrazy?

Mind that for the old Greeks democrazy was for a minority of the people.

Only until the early 1900's women could vote in The Netherlands. Democrazy in the US is different that in The Netherlands.
And now the country which does everything for oil, gospels the evangelia of their democrazy?
I'm very sad about it.

Storyteller, take care of the situation and your family.
I love you all!

The problem is not with her, the problem with those who does not stop her and tell her "get out, you double-standard old woman" I am sorry for saying that, but I still remember the time when she was secretary of States.. What made more upset is last year when the Emirates was welcoming her as one of the distinguished leaders to the economic forum or a conference about reforming the arab world.
Strange that suddenly a person with a mind of a devil turn to another with a mind of an angel!!
