News from the city of Buhrez

A story from the city of Buhrez as I read it:
"Near the city of Buhrez, 5 kilometers south of Baquba, two Humvess of American soldiers were destroyed recently. American and Iraqi soldiers came to the city afterwards and cut all the phones, cut the water, cut medicine from arriving in the city and told them that until the people of the city bring the “terrorists” to them, the embargo will continue.”

The embargo has been in place now for one week now,
“The Americans still won’t anyone or any medicines and supplies into Buhrez, nor will they allow any people in or out. Even the Al-Sadr followers who organized some help for the people in the city (water, food, medicine) are not being allowed into the city. Even journalists cannot enter to publish the news, and the situation there is so bad. The Americans keep asking for the people in the city to bring them the persons who were in charge of destroying the two Humvees on the other side of the city, but of course the people in the city don’t know who carried out the attack.”

Tikrit news

Reading my post about the Moslawi news, one of my neighbor told me this.

"In Tikrit in an attempt to prevent the suicidal car bombs, the authorities there , issues an instructions preventing any car in the city holding less than two passengers from being move around. The driver and additional passenger are the minimum, to be roaming in the city."

It is another strange and brand new news.

Moslawi News

During the last week, there was instruction in Nineveh TV to the Taxi drivers.
This instructions include:

1-For every taxicab working inside the town, the driver MUST remove the cover of the rear luggage box. That means the cover should be removed completely, and the cars move in the streets without rear covers.

2-For every taxicab working outside the town, at the external and highway roads, the drivers should open the rear luggage box when he reach the check point near the city, and keep it open as long as his car is inside the town. He can shut the rear luggage box only when he leave the town at the check point out side the city.

These instructions were only to the Governorate of Nineveh and the city of Mosul, in order to make searching the cars (specially the taxicab) more easily.

Today in the TV, there was American patrol in the Downtown, stopping the taxicabs which doesn't remove the rear luggage box, and make them remove that rear luggage box in front of the TV camera.

Yesterday the Governor deputy of Mosul announce that they are going to dig a trench around the city of Mosul leaving 9 openning or Gates seriously guarded to prevent the entry of bombed cars and the terrorist to the city. The trench will be ready in a couple of weeks.

The Bent Minaret

This picture of the Bent Minaret of the Nureddin great Mosque in Mosul.
This is a very old picture as appeared from the neighboring buildings.
It located in the center of the city (downtown).

This is a more recent picture of the same Mosque during reconstruction.
This Mosque underwent several reconstruction. But the characteristic Bent Minaret remain unchanged.

Another view of the same Minaret showing the bent, this Mosque is known in Mosul, by the name of the Great Mosque.
The city of Mosul are called "Al Hadbaa" which means "Bent", this name was probably derived from the name of this Minaret.
